Henry Phong
External Commissioner
​Henry is a 2nd year mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering. As an external commissioner, Henry will be working with the VP of external to organize industry related events as well as events on how to prepare for future BME related jobs and connecting students with research opportunities. Henry hopes this will help BME students discover what their passion is after undergraduates studies. After graduation, Henry hopes to work as a mechanical engineer in a biomedical related company. In his free time, Henry enjoys going to the gym, playing video games and spending time with friends.

Meagan Davies
Design Commissioner
Meagan is a second year student majoring in biomedical engineering and astrophysics. As the design commissioner, Meagan aims to bring interest to events and opportunities in biomedical engineering. In this role she creates social media post designs, posters and collaboratively works to re-design the website. In the future she hope to go into research in various areas such as stem cells, machine learning and medical imaging. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends, reading and drawing.
Sara Mah
Event Commissioner
​Sara is a second year biomedical engineering student and an events commissioner on BMESS. Sara helps in promoting student interactions outside of academic contexts through organizing fun events. During the summer, Sara will be participating in research involving micro fluidic chips and the detection of stress levels within sweat. Outside of university, Sara enjoys spending time outdoors and going out to eat with friends and family.

Jakub Stefanczyk
First Year Representative
Jakub is a first year student hoping to pursue mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering. As a first year representative, he informs new students about the biomedical engineering program in an open and inclusive way. Jakub’s academic interests include applications of medical technologies, such as advanced prosthetics.

Hey everyone! I’m a Biomedical Engineering student with a minor in Computer Science and your VP Internal! Part of my mission this year is to expand the BMESS branding by creating awesome merch! I’m also excited to help support the BME community on campus.
Celine Yeung
Event Commissioner
Celine is in her second year of biomedical engineering. As an events commissioner, Celine hopes to bring students in the major and minor together in fun social events. She strives to bring back the joy of being in person and wants to build a connected community. In the summer, Celine will be involved in research at the University of Calgary. She will be involved in developing an organ-on-a-chip device to enhance drug development for liver disease. In her free time, she likes spending time with her two beagles named Penny and Ralph. As well, she likes to paint and watch Netflix when she is not studying.
Jessica Tran
Events Commissioner
Jessica is a 2nd-year biomedical engineering student. As events commissioner, Jessica is involved in the organization of events that work to foster an inclusive and fun environment for the engineering student body. In the future, Jessica hopes to be involved in research that can impact the lives of children and tissue engineering. Along with being a commissioner in BMESS, she is also involved in the Vietnamese Student Association at the University of Calgary where she is a director of external affairs. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano, reading, and baking.
Chiamaka Agu
External Commissioner
Hi everyone! I'm Chiamaka, a 2nd-year biomedical engineering student with a minor in digital engineering. As a biomedical engineering student, I find myself fascinated by the intricacies of the human body and the ways in which technology can be used to improve our health and well-being. When I'm not studying, I love to unwind by diving into different worlds through reading mangas or immersing myself in a thrilling movie or series. I find that these hobbies provide a great escape from the stresses of academic life while also helping me to exercise my imagination and critical thinking skills. Whether I'm following the adventures of my favorite manga characters or exploring the complexities of the human experience through film and television, I always come away feeling inspired and energized, ready to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead.

Jasmin Briones
Internal Commissioner
Jasmin is currently a second year biomedical engineering student. As an internal commissioner, she aims to keep the council connected and let more students know about BME. She believes in maintaining a strong sense of community within BME and the rest of the student population. Outside of engineering, she enjoys spending time with friends, reading, playing games, and drawing.
Micaela Francese
Social Media Commissioner
Micaela is a 2nd year Geomatics Engineering student with a minor in Biomedical Engineering and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. As the social media commissioner, Micaela hopes to engage and reach more students through the growth of the media presence of the club through various platforms. She hopes to help keep students up to date with BMESS events, networking opportunities, education opportunities, and study resources to aid them in any way possible. Micaela is very interested in the merge between her major and minor in using data analysis methods to research less invasive diagnostic measures for conditions such as Alzheimers disease. Outside of academics, she enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and playing the viola.
Sharllette Manabat
Academic Commissioner
Sharllette is a second-year Mechanical Engineering student with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. As an Academic Commissioner, she hopes to forge stronger connections between students, faculty, and industry, creating opportunities for academic and professional growth. Her goal is to create a supportive and enriching student experience, by developing resources and hosting events that will aid in their studies. Sharllette aims to work with faculty to improve course offerings based on student feedback, ensuring the curriculum caters to students' needs and will prepare them for their futures. Sharllette's interests lie in the field of biomechanics and diagnostic imaging. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys playing the guitar, exploring new music, and taking her dog on fun adventures.
Kulreeth Bedi
Academic Commissioner
My name is Kulreeth Bedi, I am a second year Chemical Engineering Student with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. As an academic commissioner I hope to provide helpful resources to support both the students in the biomedical major and minor. I would also want to upstart new initiatives that can give the students an outlook towards what the biomedical engineering profession looks like. On my days off I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and to go hiking.
Breanna Schneider
Professional Communication Commissioner
Breanna is a third-year Biomedical Engineering student. As Professional Communications Commissioner, Breanna hopes to connect the BME community and encourage participation in student-run events. In the future, Breanna is looking forward to researching and developing biomedical devices. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, baking, playing chess, and spending time with her friends and family.
Justin Young
Event Commissioner
​Justin is a 2nd year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Calgary. As an Events Commissioner, he helps to organize events to help grow and promote the BME community on campus. Through leadership and initiative, he successfully plans events for the school community to partake in. Justin is passionate in research and new medical technologies, particularly in the field of wearables that is rapidly evolving and positively impacting people's lives. Outside of school, Justin is an avid soccer fan, loves playing the piano, and enjoys spending time with his friends, family, and dog Milo.
